Week 1: Thanks, Links, and Misc.

Well, it’s official.  Week one is in the can.  I made it, and I’ve been fairly encouraged by my results, especially for someone who has no experience blogging.  I’d like to say thank you to Connie B. over at Money Smart Life.  It was nice to connect with someone who was so encouraging.  Also, thanks to the Money Life Network for their group writing project, “Frugal Things To Do in…”.  I was fortunate enough to have my post included and it’s really driven some traffic to my site.

Here is a partial list of some of the posts I particularly enjoyed this week:

Christian PF started a fantastic series on getting out of debt this week that has been tremendous.  You should definitely go check it out.  These are the posts so far:

Plonkee Money tells what his parents taught him about finances and doesn’t seem too impressed.  In general I’d have to agree.  I had to learn everything on the streets.

Gather Little by Little wonders at how the definition of “rich” has changed and shows that it’s about more than finances.

Blueprint for Financial Prosperity explains that adolescents are hardwired not to plan for the future and to be more open to risks.  Hence, they’re hardwired to acquire debt.

Frugal Dad points out something that we all need to keep in mind:  Don’t Be a Self-Righteous Frugalist.  This is really easy to do, particularly in relationships. It’s easy to point at all the great things we’ve done and look down our nose at our partner’s efforts if they don’t quite measure up to our standards.

I don’t know how often I’ll be able to post next week because I’m going to Washington, D.C. for a conference.  I’m not sure I’ll have access to a computer most of the time I’m gone but I’ll try to post at least a couple of times.  Hope you all have a great week!

Here are a few posts to keep you busy while I’m gone:

Good luck with the blog. The first few weeks are the hardest. Once you get in to a groove life becomes easier. People who blog as pro’s or semi-pro’s are normally really generous with their know-how so keep asking the questions.
